Family Preservation & Strenghening

STRONG FAMILIES EQUALS STRONG (AND WELL PROTECTED) CHILDREN

Children belong in families. We work to strengthen and preserve families to prevent the abandonment, neglect, abuse, and unnecessary relinquishment.

Our family preservation and strengthening program adopts the gatekeeping approach as provided for in the UN Guidelines for the Alternative of Children.

To this end we seek to;

  1. Connect families to the available government and community resources to meet their needs e.g healthcare, education, housing etc
  2. Build capacities of parents to provide adequate care that responds to specific needs of children. This is done through parenting seminars, trainings, sensitization campaigns.
  3. Livelihood support: to empower families with skills and capital to start, run and sustain small businesses and agricultural activities.
  4. Policy advocacy for family friendly policies and social welfare support for families living in extreme poverty and child-headed households.
