Fostering means caring for a child who is not your own for a time, which may be a few days, months or even years under the supervision of an appointed legal guardian. Guardianship is obtaining a legal parental responsibility for a child that is not biologically yours until they attain the age of 18 years. Both fostering and guardianship are legal avenues provided for in the Children's Act. |
